Art and travel have defined my life since, in my early twenties, I spent a year hitchhiking through Europe with a sketchpad and a set of watercolors. As an art student at Northern Illinois University, I studied scientific illustration and was fascinated and inspired by the work of biologists who traveled the world and returned to document and illustrate their discoveries. I enjoy using the language of art to connect with people.

It was the Caribbean, however, that made me the painter I am today. The explosion of vivid colors in tropical nature has been a constant source of inspiration, and there is always a watercolor image that emerges in my imagination as I experience everyday life here in Honduras, my home for the past 35 years.
